Voices sound much better and I would trade up but for the presence of the room or hall is not as present. There is tremendous hall presence with the 981. Lots of reflected sound off walls of the recording space that give you more info about where things are in the hall. These were/are my everyday drivers. I also owned 991 Turbo S and Audi R8 V10 Plus. I've gotten rid of the Turbo and the R8 - power is unusable, and neither handle as well or are as much driving fun as the 718S.
