I always do Bed of Chaos this way. As long as your shield is strong enough then his swipes do practically nothing - maybe a foot or two pushback. You can get through the entire fight without sprinting once, and this method is a hell of a lot safer than trying to do it fast and hope your reaction times are good enough.
