Walter Battiss Art Museum, 45 Paulet Street, Somerset East. Battiss was a founding member of the New Group, a loose friendship of recognized contemporary European and American artists. He was unique among them, in the sense that he was from what were then regarded as the colonies and in that he had not studied in either Europe or North America. The Walters Art Museum is located at 600 N. Charles St. in Baltimore’s historic Mount Vernon Cultural District, about one mile north of the Inner Harbor and downtown business district. The main entrance is located on Centre Street near the corner of Centre and Cathedral Streets. Visitors may also access the museum via the Charles Street entrance.
