I've done it and the specs for the k24 head are a little different. The casting and everything is the same, but the k24 head doesn't flow as well as the k20 series heads. The max flow for the k24 is like 27x cfm's and the k20 is like 3xx cfm's. Sep 19, 2015 · The vtec crossover on the 8th gen isn't all sound. Notice the big bump in hp & tq where the vtec crossover occurs. The K20Z3 head flows great for higher peak hp. The K24 block has a similar bore size as the K20Z3 (87 vs 86 mm respectively) but it has a higher stroke, 99 vs 86mm. The best combination for good power and good torque would be the k20/k24 head and block combination. k24a2 (tsx-short block), and k24a1 (accord long-block). I think the k24a1 accord block is taller and hence has better piston/valve clearance if you plan on running the vtc beyond 40 degrees.
